I know what you're thinking. You would like nothing better than to read a music review on a CD of huge musical significance. You're welcome. Let's start with the cover picture. That might not be the best looking picture of Britney Spears but as you all know I love her anyway. I'm still not sure why anyone would pick that when there are much better shots but hey I will basically buy anything she releases. Back in 2005 Britney released B in the Mix Volume 1 as a kind of "underground" work for her most hardcore fans. It's been 6 years and boy have I felt a void in the music industry waiting for the release of this remix CD. It's mostly remixed tracks from Circus and Femme Fatale but she also threw Gimme More on there. Below I will go over them on a track by track basis:
.) Criminal (Radio Mix): This is Queen B's current single. It has a fun, poppier beat than the track from the deluxe version of FF. When she calls him a "bum bum bum" it really sticks out here. I think that's my favorite part of the song. Or maybe the lyric "And even I know this, I'm smart." Sometimes you just need to make people aware of your scholastic aptitude. (4.5/5)
.) Gimme More (Kaskade Club Mix): This is a great driving song. I am a huge fan of the original as well. Back in the day I had even perfected my dance moves to it at McFadden's. This remix is fun with a lot of Britney echoing throughout it. (4/5)
.) Piece of Me (Tiesto Club Mix): I like the beats in the beginning. They sound like a character bopping something in a video game. I think I might like this mix better than the original (I got a little tired of the song after a while. Something about this song often upsets my stomach for some reason). However I really like the music they put in between the verses. It has a really cool sound but I don't think I will listen to this one too much. (3/5)
.) Radar (Tonal Club Remix): This song reminds me of sensoring clothes with Emily at New York and Company. We used to just make up words to songs. I think we kept singing "Operator" for "Radar" and thought it was hilarious. Not sure why now though. I think I like this remix better than the original too. They pumped up the music but slowed down Britney's singing. It will be easier for me to sing along to. (4.5/5)
.) Womanizer (Benny Benassi Extended): LOVE IT!!!! It's hard to go wrong with this song. (4.5/5)
.) Circus (Linus Loves Remix): This is a really enjoyable mix. It's just fun and makes you want to get up and dance. Or join the circus. Everytime I dance to this one I can't help but pretend I'm a circus ringleader (is there a specific name for that??) like she is in the video. I can't help myself. (4/5)
.) If U Seek Amy (U-Tern Remix): This song reminds me of how much a certain someone enjoyed this song at the concert. I won't mention any names for fear of embarrassing someone. This remix is okay but I would just rather listen to the original (which is amazing). This is a bit too slow for my taste. (2/5)
.) 3 (Manhattan Clique Club Remix): Believe it or not this is the only original single that I do not own. I'm not sure why because I definitely liked the song. This remix is fun and has a nice tempo. (4.5/5)
.) Till the World Ends (Alex Suarez Club Remix): This is a fun song either way but the remix really pumps it up a level. It has some good sound effects in it and makes me want to be a really good fist pumper. The last minute is particularly good if you like to hear "World Ends" repeated about a million times. (5/5)
.) I Wanna Go (Gareth Emery Remix): I think this is everything a remix should be. It really mixes up the song a bit, it has a pleasant sound and it's fun. Really brings the mood up. (4.5/5)
If I had to pick a favorite song from this CD it would be Till the World Ends. I don't really dislike many things especially when it comes to Britney so my scores are probably pretty inflated. I enjoyed the first remixes CD better but that may just be because I preferred those songs. However I think this is a very good purchase or at least worth a listen on Spotify. Even the renowned music reviewer AMP would have to agree!! (Haha. Probably not).
