Nice Buns

Every now and again (okay all the time) I go through different obsessions. My latest obsession is the bun. They are awesome because by the time November roles around I am VERY lazy with my hair in the morning. This is a good way to get ready fast and reduce the amount of heat damage your hair gets. Buns can also make you look very chic and sophisticated. There are so many different kinds:

 Top Knots:

I haven't been daring enough to go this high yet, but I might give it a whirl. Usually if I'm lounging around the house I will throw it up on top of my head with an elastic, but it really looks too embarrassing for anyone to actually look at me like that. This girl looks fierce. Check out the link below on the "Fun Bun" to see the steps to make a really cute top knot.

 Classic Buns:
This style looks very prim and proper, which I personally like. I like a little more volume in the front so I often bobby pin a small section in the front into a small pouf.

 Side Buns:

This is my personal favorite bun because it is so easy to do and can look casual or dressy depending on your outfit. You just part your hair on the side and gather it into a low ponytail on the opposite side. From there you twist the ponytail into a bun and bobbypin, allowing any loose tendrils to fall out.

Check out how to do it in the video below:

Messy Buns:

The messy bun has a bit more attitude, if you will. If you really want your bun to be messy, you can curl your hair first. Put your hair into a ponytail, either high or low. You can back comb the pony for a bit more volume. Twist the ponytail gently for a loose bun. Then secure in place with bobby pins. Pull out a few shorter strands of hair to give off the messy look.

Asides:

My buns never really turn out that great, but the good thing is that if you mess it up you can just call it a "messy" bun. I like things that are imperfect and can still be considered good.

Sometimes when my hair is damp in the morning I will put some Garnier Surf Paste in it and then twist it into a bun. Then in the afternoon or evening you can take the bun out and rock some beautiful waves.
