Typically I hate change, but I think switching over to Verizon Fios is an amazing idea. There are so many reasons why it is an improvement from other cable offerings:
1.) It is cheaper. No explanation necessary. Each room can have a box with access to the DVR and it is still cheaper than other service providers. I think there is even a way to use your smartphone or a computer to access the DVR if an emergency arises and you need to record something before you miss out.
2.) Flipping through Favorites.
You can make two different favorites lists and when you want to channel surf the guide menu will just display what's in your favorites list (if you choose). This really saves me time because I don't have to a.) remember which channel is which (that is hard because they are all different now) and b.) have to be bothered with what is on all those boring channels that exist unless I choose to check them out.
3.) Verizon Media Manager.
This is a program that allows you to access media content from your computer on the television (without a cable). This means you can watch videos from your computer on your TV, look at digital photos, stream internet radio, or play playlists from your computer.
4.) Widgets
With a button on the remote you can access widgets on the television including a weather widget, youtube widget, and facebook. I know there are games and stuff as well, but I haven't really checked it all out.
There are other things associated with FIOS that people could find interesting, like parental controls and stuff like that. But that doesn't really affect me and I only really write about what interests me. Most of you probably already know these things about FIOS, (and maybe cox had all this stuff and I wasn't paying attention) but I am just amazed by what an improvement it is and I think everyone should look into it.
